Yes, to maintain a valid Handicap Index, you must be a member of an authorized USGA “golf club.” Don’t worry! We make the process easy by automating the process (Associate Membership)* or by helping your find a local group that fits your personality, ability level and style of play (Club Finder Tool).* You can also start your own golf club if that’s more your style!
*Clubs listed in the Club Finder and Associate Member program are clubs that participate in those programs and offer an online membership payment option through the SCGA. If a club isn’t listed, it doesn’t participate in the program and requires contacting a club official. It is extremely unlikely that a private club participates in either program.
